i’m still crushin’ on the update of the BLISS AND TELL BRANDING COMPANY website. as you may have noticed there are some new projects added to the PORTFOLIO. it’s funny, within the same week that these client projects were updated on the site…two of them (my clients) reached out to me about continuing our collaboration. i know that good design….takes time…and great design…takes even longer. i explained to these two clients that a strong brand foundation is key to the success of their business…and the little details (while still being very important) will always be evolving. your brand will change and grow with the changes and growth of you and your business.i’m gonna give you an example using the analogy of branding your business to that of decorating your home. now i am not an interior designer/stylist, but i have been through a house renovation and see there are similarities between the two. building a brand identity/foundation is like determining the basic details of your home. understanding the look, feel + personality helps to define the basics…the foundation (ie: the flooring, the paint, the cabinetry etc.) the lil’ details like rugs, pillows, window treatment etc. will change (with time and trends) but the foundation…the basics…will go the long haul and last for a much longer period of time. does that make sense?

congratulations to our amazing clients who are featured in the press!
LISA DAVIS GILLY of LD LINENS & DECOR was featured in the OCT/NOV 2013 issue of HGTV magazine. in this great pictorial she demonstrates how she styles a chic thanksgiving table. she repurposes a book shelf that usually holds books into a visual showcase of stemware, china, and pieces of art from local artists. this lends a perfect backdrop to her holiday dining room. other touches include switching out a casual jute rug for a more formal decorative rug. a focal point is of course her vivid table scape. by using a custom tablecloth with a bold teal band the room really comes together! perhaps the must stunning adornment of all is a the chandelier, a repurposed brass piece that LISA painted with OLD WHITE by ANNIE SLOAN chalk paint. ( B&T does ongoing design work for LISA’S four stores, as well as design work for her custom linen line “JOSEPHINE.”)
MARIAN PARSONS aka MISS MUSTARD SEED and MISS MUSTARD SEED’S MILKPAINT is featured in three publications. in AMERICAN FARMHOUSE STYLE, MARION imparts her tips on how to give rescued finds an authentic farmhouse look by using MISS MUSTARD SEED’S MILK PAINT. the four page pictorial which features beautiful photography taken by MARIA CARR of shows different techniques for applying MILK PAINT including use as a stain, on raw wood, or on refinished pieces. finally MARIAN’s home is spotlighted in a before and after spread in MAKE IT OVER magazine. (B&T does ongoing work for MARIAN, created both of her websites and designed the packaging for her successful MILK PAINT line).
DEBORAH owner of PEINTURE, is featured in CLOTH PAPER SCISSORS magazine detailing her retail/workshop space in costa mesa, ca. the nine page spread highlights her bold design aesthetic in her retail/workshop space such as her brush stand which was based on vintage produce stands. her selection of ANNIE SLOAN’S CHALK PAINT are whimsically displayed by using antique chairs painted in each of the colors that are hung from a wall. the space creates an ambiance that is unique and stylized. DEBORAH was also recently interviewed on CBS los angeles with a spot on how to transform furniture at home using CHALK PAINT. check out the video here. (B&T developed the entire Peinture brand including all marketing and packaging materials for her retail/workshop space in costa mesa, ca.)
RACHEL, of RACHEL AND COMPANY has a brand spankin’ new idea “ORGANIZED IN A BOX” which is spotlighted in the january issue of BETTER HOMES and GARDENS. RACHEL a professional organizer and life-stylist, offered an organization solution to a reader that involved a closet overhaul including a wardrobe edit, more storage in her closet, and under-bed storage. (B&T designed her brand including the website/blog for RACHEL AND COMPANY rachel-company.com and is now collaborating on her latest (and cool) endeavor “ORGANIZED IN A BOX”… which is coming soon).

as a continuation of a previous post i wrote about WORKING WITH MISS MUSTARD SEED i’d like to share the design, branding and packaging work i did for MARIANS oh-so-popular MILK PAINT collection.the initial inspiration was the Miss Mustard Seed t-shirt design i created as event garb for Marian’s friends, family and helpers to wear during markets & trunk shows. turns out the shirts were so well received that the MMS fans and followers wanted to buy their own.
along with the t-shirt look & feel…Marian loved the whimsy, hand-drawn illustrations (by her friend Laura) and so i was sure to incorporate them into the packaging and overall concept for theMISS MUSTARD SEED’S MILK PAINT line of products.
along with the packaging design Marian’s exclusive colors and entire product line we collaborated on color cards and digital designs as well. earlier in the week, bliss and tell did a giveaway of Marian’s book (INSPIRED YOU: Letting God Breathe New Life Into Your Heart and Home). the winner is MARCIE LENICK.
